Boats

The stay at a tourist resort is comfortable and pleasant but also has its limitations. You don't see a lot of the country and the number of dive sites often remain limited to a maximum of one hour sailing with the dhoni, the boat from which you dive. Because of this you lose a lot of time and you are limited to the dive sites in the immediate vicinity of the resort. A safariboat resolves this problem as the boat sails along the most beautiful dive sites and shortens the trip with the dhoni. After the dive, the equipment remains on the dhoni and the only thing you have to do is to step on to the safari boat.

Currently, we use the safari boat the Blue Dolphin.

The Blue Dolphin was built in 1995 and belongs nowadays to the classics among the Maldivian safari boats. That does not mean that the boat is outdated, on the contrary. Conti, one of the first Maldivian dive guides in the country designed the boat and the accompanying dhoni esspecially for divers. In addition, he updated the wooden ship the last couple of years to the contemporary needs of comfort. Because of this, the four two- or triple cabins below were equipped with their own bathroom/toilet and with airconditioning. In 2007 the boat was updated again by an easy entrance to the water on the back deck and with two extra cabins on the main deck. The approximately 25 meter long wooden boat has with these alterations a capacity of 10 to 12 guests.

We dive in relatively small groups (a maximum of 12 guests) and because of this we significantly increase the chance of encounters with large marine animals. This in contrast to the latest boats which hold up to 24 guests. In addition, the boat has an installation for the desalination of seawater, a music system, DVD player and television. There is also a platform where electronic equipment can be charged (220volt Dutch socket) such as dive lights and cameras.

On the accompanying dhoni the compressor and 11 liter aluminium dive tanks are located.

The Blue Dolphin has four crew members. On the dhoni there are another two crew members.

On both the Blue Dolphin and the dohni we have oxygen for emergencies.
